Equipment/Supplies Donation Guidelines
Thank you for considering a donation to BioLink Depot. Your generosity helps provide educators with the tools they need to bring hands-on science learning to thousands of students. To ensure we can safely and efficiently redistribute donated materials, we ask that all donations meet the following guidelines.
The safety of our staff, volunteers, and educators is our highest priority. Donations that do not meet these guidelines may be declined or may need to be retrieved by the donor.
Glassware
All glassware must be clean, free of residue, and unbroken.
Please pack glassware appropriately to ensure it arrives safely.
Equipment
All equipment must be clean, decontaminated, and in working condition.
Please include any applicable power cords, power supplies, accessories, and manuals whenever possible.
Biohazard Responsibility
Donors are responsible for ensuring that all donated equipment has been properly decontaminated prior to donation.
Equipment that has been used with hazardous, biological, chemical, or radioactive materials must be certified as safe before it can be accepted.
Hazardous & Restricted Materials
We cannot accept any of the following:
Hazardous materials of any kind.
Liquids or powders, including chemicals, reagents, solutions, stains, media, or other substances. If these items are included with a donation, we will ask that they be retrieved by the donor.
Biological specimens.
Radioactive materials.
Controlled substances.
Compressed gas cylinders.
Regulated hazardous waste.
Delivery
Donors are responsible for delivering donations to the BioLink Depot warehouse.
All donations must be approved by BioLink Depot prior to delivery. Any materials left at our facility without prior approval are considered illegal dumping and may be reported or require retrieval by the responsible party.
Pickup may be available for large equipment on a limited basis, depending on the size of the donation, location, and transportation availability.
Data Security
Computers, tablets, hard drives, and other electronic devices must have all data removed prior to donation. BioLink Depot is not responsible for data remaining on donated devices.
Donation Review
We reserve the right to decline items that are excessively worn, moldy, damaged, incomplete, or otherwise unsuitable for redistribution or that do not meet our safety standards, current program needs or available storage capacity.
Contractual Liability
As a matter of Board policy, BioLink Depot does not provide contractual indemnities, agree to defend or hold harmless other parties, waive legal rights or remedies, or otherwise assume contractual liability for third-party claims in connection with donated property. Donation agreements requiring such provisions will generally not be accepted. BioLink Depot welcomes donations under its standard donation documentation or under agreements that are consistent with this policy.
